Responding to a dying old woman's inquiry about being reunited with her beloved pets after death,
James Herriot, the late British author/veterinarian noted:
"If having a soul means being able to feel love and loyalty and gratitude, then animals are better off than a lot of humans. You've nothing to worry about there."... "I do believe it. With all my heart I believe it."
James Herriot "Dog Stories"
chapter The Card Over the Bed

Somewhere in time's own space
There must be some sweet pastured place
Where creeks sing on and tall trees grow
Some paradise where horses go,
For by the love that guides my pen
I know great horses live again.
~Stanley Harrison
sadly, we decided slick should be euthanized due to the pain he endured from advanced arthritis in his spine - a pain he endured stoically, like all animals. we, and most of all, april, will miss him terribly.

In loving memory of Andrea's horses, Jeffrey, Dial and Raider

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals that had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, So long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

This website and this page is dedicated to the old man of the farm, jeffrey, andrea's pet and a rugged individualist, who died in february 2008 at the age of 43...
until andrea retired him at the age of 40, jeffrey would give you the ride of your life - he loved cantering downhill - sideways.
Horses - if God made anything more beautiful, He kept it for Himself. ~Author Unknown
...and on a warm sunny afternoon, the tired old horse, happy for the first time in a long long time with enough to eat and surrounded by friends in a place filled with kind words and loving hands, lay down contented in the tall cool grass, took a last look around her and decided it was her time...
Goodbye, Jezebel.

and hugs and kisses goodbye to our gentle giant, tiny, who passed over the Rainbow Bridge on july 6, 2009.
